PICT's two major projects of Innovation Initiative, << IMPETUS & CONCEPTS >>, have been created by PICT students and the students chapter of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers [IEEE]. They have been operational since 1990.

Supported by several IT firms and with strong participation from IT businesses, these projects are organized at the PICT campus by the final year Bachelor of Engineering [BE] students of PICT in March-April every year. The program includes competitions and contests for software & hardware systems, technical papers presentation, programming, technical quizzes etc.

It is a singularly effective platform used by BE students from all over the country to participate and create innovative IT projects. Over 1,500 BE students from over 75 engineering colleges from all over the country submit over 150 comprehensive IT project proposals that can incubate academia-industry cooperation leading to a NEW service, a NEW technology or a NEW product.

An impartial team of academic and industry specialists assesses each of these proposals. The crowning moment of this project is the award of prizes to the winners of the first 3 most innovative, actionable and fundable projects.
