PICT Pune - Information Technology

BACKGROUND

PICT’s Bachelor of Engineering Program in Information Technology commenced from the academic year 2001-2002 with an intake capacity of 60 students. The current intake capacity has doubled to 120 students. The Department has established a reputation for technical excellence. It has well equiped Multimedia Laboratory, Operating System Laboratory and Network Laboratory along with the programming and Project Laboratories.

November 2005.

The T.E. I.T. student Hrishikesh Mantri stood Third in University for S.E. (IT) Examination - Nov. 2005 , he got 1038/ 1500 marks.

October 2005.

The TE IT students Vipinkumar Bothara and Sumit Dighe won third prize for Econtraption in VIT, Pune [Oct 05]
The TE IT students Vipinkumar Bothara, Manish Mukul, Rakesh Sharma and Sumit Dighe won third prize for Abacus in VIT, Pune [ oct 05 ].

January 2006.

The BEIT students Akshat Chowdhary , Kushal Agarwal , Madhavshree ,Pratik Munot and Nishant Gulati have participated in SIMPLE LIFE at Techfest 2006 , IIT Bombay.
The BEIT student Vikas Kansal has participated in Prayas, SmartTech at Techfest 2006 , IIT Bombay

The BEIT student Leena Pachkawade ,Ganesh Jaju , Chirag Jog has participated in Tryst [ Technical paper presentation competition ] 2006 at Annual Technical Festival, IIT Delhi

March 2006.

The BEIT students Milind Dhobe , Salil Sahastrabudhe , Rashmi Rathi , Priya Pathak got 2nd prize in Networking Category in Innovation 2006, National level Project Competition at Cummins College Of Engineering , Pune.
The BEIT students Leena Pachkawade ,Ganesh Jaju , Chirag Jog got 2nd prize in Systems Category in Innovation 2006, National level Project Competition at Cummins College Of Engineering , Pune .

The BEIT students Meenakshi Deshmukh, Abhijit Sange , Mayur Bhosale, Madhur Barve got 1st prize in Applications Category in Innovation 2006, National level Project Competition at Cummins College Of Engineering , Pune .
The BEIT students Mrunal Rege , Amit Ausarkar & Yuvraj kharade got selected for Expert Review at Microsoft Academic BE Project Program in Mumbai for their project “DCD Filter Driver”.

July 2006.
Prof. G.P.Potdar worked on technical advisory board of National conference organized by D.Y.Patil Engineering college, Pimpri in association with IEEE.

Mr. Suresh Shelar and Mr. A.Dhamankar attended STTP ob web development and multimedia organized by Sinhagad engineering college in July 2006

The paper titled “A new approach for fingerprints classification” Written by Mr. Jayadevan R.(IT) was published in the International Journal Of computer science published by the world Informatics society

August 2006.
Mr.Vishal Jaiswal attended an STTP on software testing organized by Accenture mumbai in august 2006.

Mrs.Kirti Nandedkar,Ms.Rushali Deshmukha and Ms. Poonam Kothari attended workshop on “Object oriented analysis and design using rational rose in august 2006.

September 2006.
All the staff members of the I.T department attended the seminar organized by Prof. sangi of IIT kanpur on “The Necessity of higher education.

November 2006.
All the staff members attended the “Experience” organized by the ME students of PICT.

Prof.G.P.Potdar was guest of honors and keynote speaker at SKNCOE,Pune for ISTE-AICTE sponsor short-term training program on “Distributed Computing Java perspective”.

Faculty Achievements

Mr. Jayadevan R. and Mr.Sachin Pande of I.T Department completed their post Graduation(M.E) with first class.

Among the Project work performed by the students in the academic year 2007– 2008 were the following:
