BACKGROUND
 
PICT’s academic activities commenced with the creation of the Computer Engineering Department in 1983 and has ever since been among the top performers in the country. The Department has established a nation-wide reputation for its excellent results, placements, and pioneering projects sponsored by IT industry.
 
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS

 
Among the key achievement of the Computer Engineering Department Students during the academic year 2005 - 2006 were the following:

August 2005.
 
  • Ms. Kasturi Moghe (TE-I) won the third prize in Technical paper presentation during Technovanza-05, a national level event at VJTI, mumbai.
  • Mr. Aditya Sharma has successfully completed Red Hat Examination and certified as Red Hat certified engineer on 10 Aug. 2005.
  • 5 students of TE Comp were invited and attended students Day @ TRDDC-2005 at Tata research development and design center, Hadapsar, pune.

January 2006.
  • Mr. Nilesh Mahajan and salil deshmukh of Te got runner up trophy for"iTechSpeak"paper presentation contest in transition 06 for a paper "STAVIES-Data Mining" at Cognizant, Hinjawadi on 28th Jan. 06.
  • Mr.Nakul Dhotre, Mr.Swapnil Tambi and Mr. Chinmay Soman of TE got second runner up trophy for "ACUMEN"-spot project competition in Transition 06 at Cognizant, Hinjawadi on 28th Jan. 06.

February 2006.
  • Mr. Swapnil Patil of TE best award in Sand animation in "Firodiya Karandak" 2006.
  • Ketki Kulkarni of SE honored best classical Singer for her own made tarana in Firodiya Karandak 2006.
  • Vivek Ralan, Umesh chandak, Bhushan Sonawane and Rishikesh Naik (all in BE) secured second prize in "TechKriti" held at IIT Kanpur during 23 Feb. 2006. To 26 Feb 2006 for there project "WIFI SSGs". They also secured second prize in "Technozone-06"held at NIIT Warnagal during 17 Feb 06 to 19 Feb 06.
  • Gaurav Suryagandh and Abhiraj Butala secured first prize in "Communicazione" communication and networking quiz organized by sinhagad college of Engineering pune on 28 Feb. 2006.
  • Rohan hole and Meghan Nayan of SE secured second prize for the project "Internet Toolkit" in a project exhibition held at Walchand College of engineering sangli, during 24 to 26 Feb. 2006.
  • Anuradha Malwadkar, Purnima Venkatram, Neha Narkhede and Tanvi Bhadbhade secured first prize for their project "Ontology based topic Discovery and information retrieval system" in "software project presentation contest" organized by National Institute of Technology, Warangal during 17- 19th Feb. 2006.They also secured first prize in Nirmitee- Open software competition organized by computer society of India, Mumbai on 24th Feb. 2006.

  • June 2006

    Prof.Rajesh Ingle attended 2006 IEEE conference(ICEHV-2006) committee meeting at ARAI pune on 15th June 2006.
  • July 2006

    Prof.Rajesh Ingle attended the Board of studies (Computer Engineering)meeting at Shivaji University on 18th July 2006.

    Prof.Rajesh Ingle attended the IEEE pune subsection meeting on 22nd July at CCOEW,pune. He discussed about Dr.Vijay Garg’s visit to PICT. He also discussed the possible association of IEEE Bombay section/pune subsection for organizing two day event during first or second week of February 2007.

    Prof.Rajesh Ingle attended the IEEE Execom meeting at SP college, mumbai on 25th July 2006.

    Prof.Sonkamble B.A presented a paper entitled “Isolated word speech recognition for the remotely spoken digits”, in International conference PICA-2006 held from July 11th to 14th ,2006 at priyadarshani college of Engineering and architecture,Nagpur.
  • August 2006.

    A workshop on “Rational application Developer Tool”)IDE for developing Enterprise level java applications) was conducted by Zensoft services Pvt.Ltd. pune, form 7th to 10th august 2006.Faculty members and students from computer and I.T(total 26 members) attended the workshop.

    Prof.Rajesh Ingle conducted a seminar on “presentation skills” for all teaching and non-teaching staff of computer department on 30th August. This was organized to train & increase skills of staff. Department conduct such a various activities to improve the skills of teaching and non-teaching staff.

    Prof.Rajesh Ingle, Prof.B.A.Sonkamble, Prof.M.Emmanuel , Prof.Archana Ghotkar and Prof.Mukta Taklikar attended a workshop to discuss implementation of new syllabus of B.E. Computer,conduted at SKNCOE,pune in association with Board of studies, Computer Department, University of pune, on 7th august 2006.

    Prof.Rajesh Ingle is invited to speak on Grid Security Issues at National Conference on Distributed computing “NCDC-6”at D.Y.Patil college of Engineering.
  • September 2006.

    Sun Microsystems team visited Computer Department about their association with PICT on 21st September 2006.
  • November 2006.

    As per ISO procedures college organized parents meet for SE,TE,BE student on 25th November 2006.

    Ms.Preeti Jain attended ISTE approved national level STTP on “Middleware Technology with Java 2 Enterprise Edition(J2EE)’organized by Maeer’s maharashtra academy of Engineering,Alandi,pune during 22nd- 26th November 2006.
